Isaiah 11:1
(Is. 9:1–7)
There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
The roots sustain the branches, and here the Jesse is King David’s father. The rod refers to a branch that would be part of that family tree and who would change the world.
